Le Boudigau

By bike or on foot, come and discover the Boudigau, a historic canal. Just a stone's throw from the city center, take the time to discover the landscaped banks and observe the surrounding fauna and flora.

The Boudigau, a Gascon word meaning "canal", was built on the former bed of the Adour, a river diverted in 1578 to Bayonne by the engineer Louis de Foix.

The inhabitants of the communes formerly bordering the Adour joined their force to dig the current Boudigau

It is since the outlet of the Marais d'Orx, classified as a nature reserve.
