La Bastide d'Hastingues
Bastide founded in 1289 by Edward I of England.
Franchises confirmed in 1321, authorizing a weekly market and two annual fairs.
In 1342, the King-Duke authorized the installation of a river port.
The town was fortified and coins were minted.
During the Wars of Religion, the town was burnt down in 1523, then part of the walls were destroyed.
On a hillock overlooking the river called the Gaves reunited, elongated plan adapted to the topography.
To see : the 14th century gate.
