Eglise Saint Jean-Baptiste et Saint Barthélémy

The construction of the oldest part of the church of Saint John the Baptist dates back to the 11th century. The church would have been built in the 12th century on the model of the one in Montfort. The same entrance porch to the cemetery can be found there. In the 16th century, two side aisles were added to the church, which was then covered with a beautiful vault with binders and tiercerons. On the keystone of the nave, we read: "l'an MVCXXXVIII ceste chapeles fut faicte". The masterpiece of the furniture is the high altar of 1898 whose history is unusual. Representing Landes saints, it was made for the choir of the cathedral of Aire sur l'Adour. It was refused and then installed in a chapel in the same town, then in Poyanne around 1930 and finally installed in Poyartin around 1960.
