You’re in for a surprise with the themed loop you can take to extend your hike along the Adour trail. On this section, you will come across the hydroelectric power plant, the old mill, the sill, and shad fishers using traditional square dipping nets. Built in 1977, the power plant converts the natural energy of the water into mechanical energy and then into electricity. There are three such plants along the Adour. The other two are in Aire-sur-l’Adour and Saint-Maurice-sur-l’Adour. On the left bank of the river, this power plant is fitted with a fish ladder for migratory fish. The sill, located at La Pachère, is the last dam on the Adour before it flows into the ocean.
