It is undoubtedly worth considering discovering the Landes by bike. With nearly 600 km of protected cycle paths and 1,700 km of signposted routes along the shores, whether deep in the forest or alongside lakes and rivers, cycling is more than a means of transport here. It is a real life-style choice.

There will always be a cycle path that passes right next to your holiday resort and takes you where you want to go. Take advantage of the cycle paths to visit the nearest bakery to buy your morning croissants, the depths of the forest or the beach for a picnic with your towel on your shoulder, where you can swim in the ocean or watch the sunset.

Why not collect guides and cycle path maps from tourist offices to create your own itinerary?

For long distance adventurers, two major cycle routes cross the region: the Vélodyssée, a 160km stretch along the coast from North to South, from Biscarrosse to Tarnos, and the Scandibérique, a 177km stretch across the Landes from East to West, from Gabarret to Saint-Laurent-de-Gosse. They offer many facilities for peace of mind, including sign-posting, interactive maps, GPS coordinates, suggestions for places to visit and points of interest, accommodation, rental companies and specialised repairers.
