In Terres de Chalosse, Mugron is considered to be “the balcony of the Landes”, with its striking view of the Adour from Place Chantilly. Behind the cinema, the Liberty Tree is the starting point for this route. Over the course of a trail featuring 20 points of interest identified by ceramic plaques, walkers are invited to learn about the local history and architectural heritage of Mugron, just brimming with history and anecdotes. The trail is a self-guided tour, leading to the arena, the church, old wine storehouses, a fountain, a farrier’s workshop, and historical figures who left their mark on Mugron. Family bonus: For the kiddies, an activities book (in French) offers a fun way to explore the route. It is available from the Tourist Office and contains riddles, puzzles, drawings and more. A free gift awaits them at the end of the tour.
