La source du Buccuron

The thermal springs of Gamarde would be known since 1517. Located between Gamarde and Cassen, first called the reille (the gutter), then the old Gamarde, the first source carries today the name of Buccuron. Sulphurous at first, it smelled of incubated eggs. Between the XVII and XVIII century, 400 m downstream of Reille, another source is discovered. Gamarde-les-Bains, a former spa, had its moment of glory at the beginning of the 20th century. The water of Gamarde travels through geological rocks which give it its exceptional composition. Naturally mineralized, rich in sulphur, it has dermatological properties. Soothing, anti-irritating, the water of Gamarde-les-Bains takes care of delicate skins. Today this miraculous fountain, the Buccuron spring, which made the reputation of the old thermal establishment, is exploited by a dermatological laboratory.
