Fontaine Sainte-Rose

The Sainte-Rose fountain is surely the most popular of the three healing fountains of Ychoux. It is located along the Way of the Cross that follows the stream. It heals skin diseases, such as watery ailments that leave traces of pinkish scarring, but also pellagra, a disease caused by a lack of vitamins and characteristic of poor rural populations in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and impetigo, a contagious skin disease caused by infectious germs.
The three fountains have long been used for all kinds of celebrations, such as Assumption Day, which is the occasion for a pilgrimage. A large number of people gather at the church and then go to the three fountains together.
