Eglise Sainte-Quitterie
Situated between Mont-de-Marsan and Pau, Aire-sur-l?Adour is a stopover on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the church of Sainte-Quitterie stands on a hill to the south of the town. It is named after Quitterie, a young Visigoth princess who was beheaded in the 5th century for refusing to renounce her Christian faith.
From the outside, the church stands out for its square tower, porch bell tower with carved portal and stone and brick facade.
