Eglise Saint-Martin
In the second half of the 19th century, several dozen churches were built in the Landes. This vast movement was motivated by the advanced state of dilapidation in which many religious buildings were found, following the various conflicts of the previous centuries. The new church of Lourquen, in Chalosse, (which replaces the old church) is between neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic. The church of Saint Martin has a portal and a bell tower in the neo-Gothic style. The pulpit and the four chandeliers were made at the end of the 19th century by Abbot Lalanne who decided to decorate his church himself... One can guess a patient work of cabinet making. The choir is decorated with 3 stained glass windows representing Saint Martin, patron saint of the church, surrounded by Saint Joseph and the Virgin Mary. They are the work of Jules-Pierre Mauméjean, founder of the workshops of the same name in Pau.
