Eglise Notre-Dame de Lit

The church, built in the 12th century, was a defensive church, as its turret shows. In the 19th century, the bell tower was heightened, and in 1904 a spire was added, topped by four angels at the cardinal points, giving it its distinctive silhouette.
On the ground floor of the bell tower is a stone Pieta dating from the 15th century. The interior door frames 15th century carved wooden doors, which are classified as historical monuments. At the back of the church are paintings by the Bordeaux painter François-Maurice Roganeau. One of them, painted in 1920, is dedicated to the children of Lit who died for their country during the First World War.
Come and visit all year round Notre Dame de Lit, guardian of the Landes heritage and witness to local history.
Guided tours on Mondays at 11am in July and August.
