Demeure du Général Lamarque

This private residence, neo-classical, visible only from the outside, was built for General Maximien Lamarque around 1812. This general of Napoleon's division, a native of Saint-Sever, distinguished himself by his courage during many Napoleonic battles. He became a baron of the Empire and a deputy. The castle opens on the courtyard side with an entrance portico framed by Tuscan columns, as well as the portal with ironwork decorated with the monogram of the general and the count's crown. On the garden side, it faces the former stables and wine cellar of the General. The statue of the General (1896) by Félix Soulès decorates the park of Morlanne and a commemorative column (1836) decorates the place of Verdun.
