Bastide de Saint-Justin
Saint-Justin, 25 km northeast of Mont-de-Marsan in the Landes d'Armagnac region, is a fortified town founded in 1280 by the Viscountess of Marsan and the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem. Strategically located, this town of character has known a warlike destiny. Its three octagonal towers, the sentry walk along the remnants of the ramparts and its curious prison still bear witness to this, but flowers have replaced cannons!
Saint-Justin is a village in bloom, with the charm inherited from centuries of history: an arcaded square, carved half-timbered houses, mansions with mullioned windows and a romantic manor house.
