Piste Cyclable Contis-Plage / Saint-Julien-en-Born

The cycle path between Contis and Saint-Julien-en-Born passes near the Courant de Contis. If this river was the outlet of a pond still existing until the second half of the 19th century, it now discharges the waters of the Vignac and the Courlis into the Atlantic. The course of the Courant, like that of the Courant d'huchet further south, has sheltered and continues to shelter an abundant biodiversity and very beautiful landscapes. Traditionally, eels, and more particularly silver eels, were fished on this stream. This is not a particular species of eel, but a particular stage in the evolution of the eel: it means that it is ready to reproduce.
