From prehistoric times to Art Deco, the Landes region has a rich heritage that is reflected in several sites, villages and historical monuments.

It is in the small village of Brassempouy that the oldest representation of a human face has been found. Known as the Lady of Brassempouy, it was delicately carved from a piece of ivory 25,000 years ago. The village is home to a museum and an archeopark that offers a wide range of activities.

In Dax, it is Antiquity that is illustrated through the archaeological crypt of the Borda Museum and the Gallo-Roman city walls of the city.

If you want to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, there is nothing better than a visit to the Abbey of Arthous, in Hastingues, where you can visit the Museum of France. It is also worth visiting the neighbouring town of Sorde-l’Abbaye, the town of Saint-Sever, as well as the old centre of Mont-de-Marsan and the bastides in the countryside of the Landes, including the small town of Labastide-d’ Armagnac, amongst many others.

Finally, Dax also has a rich art-deco heritage, including the Splendid Hotel & Spa.
