There are shapes that don't seek to explain, but to move.
Materials that vibrate, split, rise or float, as if crossed by an inner breath.
The works of Gertrud Varailhon and Xavier Carrère engage in dialogue without responding to each other head-on.
They move forward side by side, driven by the same attention to life, to tension, to the unstable balance between full and empty.
In both, matter is never static.
There seems to be a latent movement running through it, a discreet wind that acts beneath the surface, in the folds, ruptures and impulses.
