In 1948, Clément Mathieu, an unemployed music teacher, accepts a job as a supervisor at a re-education boarding school for minors. The repressive system applied by the director, Rachin, upsets Mathieu. By introducing these difficult children to music and choral singing, Mathieu succeeded in transforming their daily lives.
