Causerie « Guerre de Cent ans en Chalosse »
Chalosse, historically pro-English in heart and interest, was involved from the outset of the conflict, with the seigneur de Navailles' complaint to the Parliament of Paris.
The House of Foix-Béarn took advantage of the war to annex Tursan, while the House of Albret took control of Auribat.
The Chalossais covered themselves in glory with the Anglo-Gascons at Poitiers (1356), before paying homage to the Black Prince, and welcoming his army and those of Castile and Navarre at Estibeaux in 1367.
But 1378 saw the birth of the Chalossais La Hire, who became an advisor to the King of France, and was one of the three architects of his final victory (along with Dunois and Xaintrailles).
Charles VII was present at Tartas and Saint-Sever in 1442, but he came up against the heroic resistance of Dax, which did not really surrender until nine years later.
