When the idea for an album starts to take shape, I often don’t see it coming. I set out with two or three ideas in mind, and I’m often surprised by what happens.

For *Spirales*, it all began one day in June 2024 during a walk through my hometown, Provins, in Seine-et-Marne. I had just walked through a public park where, as a child, I used to go often with my mother. A text then emerged, bringing those childhood walks and the moment I was experiencing into sharp contrast.

The fact that I was on tour with my trio while writing the album also had an impact, reinforcing my desire to infuse the recording with the intensity of a live performance: My two bandmates, Sébastien Boisseau (double bass) and Julien Noëb (keyboards), were joined by Etienne Bonhomme (drums)— all of whom had already appeared on the previous studio album.
